ABOUT THE ORGANISATION The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is a sub-regional organisation responsible for conducting examinations in English-speaking West African countries. WAEC invites applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians to fill the following vacant position at its Ghana National Office. POSITION DETAILS Position: Network Administrator II Division: Information and Communication Technology KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage and maintain the Council’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software systems. • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices. • Provide prompt and efficient technical support to end users by resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues. • Protect the security and integrity of the Council’s data by implementing reliable backup and disaster recovery solutions. • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement measures to improve network efficiency. • Collaborate with various departments to identify IT requirements, evaluate potential solutions, and implement new systems or upgrades. • Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security protocols and industry best practices. • Stay informed about current technology trends, assess their potential impact, and recommend appropriate IT improvements. • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum of 3 years of proven post-graduation work experience as an IT Officer, Network Administrator, or in a similar role. • Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure and providing technical support. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting techniques. • Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems. • Experience with network administration and security protocols. • Familiarity with cloud-based services and technologies. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively. PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS The following industry certifications will be an added advantage: • CompTIA A+. • CompTIA Network+. • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA). • Other relevant networking, systems administration, cloud, or IT support certifications.
