Join Planet and be a part of our mission to change the way people see the world.</p> <p>Planet is a global company with employees working remotely world wide and joining us from offices in San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and The Netherlands.</p></div><p><strong>About the Role:</strong></p> <p>We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to design, prototype, and launch CivGov and Commercial Solutions and define how users interact with and derive insights from Planet’s satellite Earth Observation (EO) data.</p> <p>In this role, you will bridge the gap between Planet’s platform capabilities and valuable customer outcomes. With a relentless focus on the user, you will define user profiles, establish jobs-to-be-done, and design end-to-end user flows for high-value market opportunities. You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to decompose these workflows into scalable, reusable UX building blocks, ultimately crafting cohesive, customer-centric solutions.</p> <p><span style="color: #000000; background-color: transparent;">This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Berlin or Haarlem office 3 days per week.</span></p> <p><strong>Impact You’ll Own:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Product Design Leadership: Drive the end-to-end design process, from initial discovery and user research to prototyping and high-fidelity execution.</li> <li>Discovery & Validation: Lead user research and prototype testing to validate high-value use cases within CivGov and Commercial ensuring all development is grounded in validated user needs.</li> <li>User-Centric Goal Setting: Define clear objectives based on user discovery (e.g., identifying success criteria for a CivGov compliance officer) to drive meaningful outcomes.</li> <li>Design & Architecture: Architect intuitive interfaces that translate complex geospatial data into actionable insights, establishing reusable interaction patterns and components for Planet’s solutions.</li> <li>Cross-Functional Strategy: Partner with product and engineering to ensure top-tier design quality; facilitate cross-team collaboration to align on ambiguous problem spaces and bridge the gap between technical capability and customer value.</li> <li>Design Culture: Actively contribute to building and elevating Planet’s design culture.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What You Bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>6+ years designing complex SaaS or B2B products, taking projects from early ideation to launch.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in design or an equivalent field.</li> <li>End-to-end experience, in terms of taking projects from early ideation to live software, and iterating based on feedback.</li> <li>A solid portfolio displaying complex professional projects, your process, and the resulting impact.</li> <li>Experience conducting user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings into actionable improvements.</li> <li>A track record of designing sophisticated, data-heavy applications, ideally featuring AI-powered tools or geospatial data visualization.</li> <li>A solid core skillset: UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, and visual design principles.
